I too have migraine with aura. I am triggered by lack of sleep, missing a meal, perfume, changes in weather or altitude or who knows what. I take sumatriptan at the start of a migraine. It’s been wonderful. I used to take high dose Motrin but would often get horrible nauseating headaches. Since starting on sumatriptan I’ve been able to sto […] View
I am so happy to hear all went well. I like the idea of keeping each other informed about what is coming up with us and also how we are doing after. It helps me to see how strong and resilient all of you are.

The TSA has a medical card you can carry. It alerts them to the fact you may need special accommodations for screening. You still go through screening. I only need oxygen and use a wheelchair in the airport. I usually fly SWA. The screenings and boarding have all been easy.
I too could use suggestions. At night, my sinuses get blocked up from the oxygen and I wake up unable to breathe through my nose. I end up sitting up for a while. My sinuses get blocked with dried blood and eventually I can blow it out. Some nights I hate going to bed because I know I will be up every three hours or so trying to breathe. Any…[Read more]
The difference in sodium between brands is huge. I’ve found no salt tomato sauce and very low sodium salsa and chips. I use onion, garlic, paprika, and crushed red pepper as spices. I’ve also switched to unsalted butter and flavored olive oils.
I am now on 6l at night and with any sort of movement/exercise. I had trouble walking with a portable concentrator on pulse. I switched to liquid oxygen and high flow canula and it made a huge difference. The portable bottles fill from a large tank. They only weigh a few pounds full and I can carry them in a backkpack. It took some calling…[Read more]
I am 65 so the assumptions people make are a bit different. I am asked “Did you smoke?” When I say no I have pulmonary hypertension they seem uninterested. People seem to like being able to assign a preventable cause to oxygen use.
I too get migraines. I’ve had them sporadically for ages but since my PH diagnosis and subsequent problems with my oxygen dropping with movement I’ve been getting more migraines. They seem to come in clusters and are stronger. I’ll see my neurologist in a few months.
I have had migraines with aura since I was 10. I originally used ibuprofen up to 800 mg to try to stop them. They kept getting worse now I take sumatriptan at the first hint of an aura. My triggers are also low oxygen missing a meal, Lack of sleep, changes in weather, and who knows what. I can’t take ibuprofen anymore only Tylenol which does n…[Read more]
I also find that my stats drop rapidly when I start moving. I don’t need oxygen when I am sitting but if I walk any distance I have to use it. In the last year I started with flow of 2 on pulse and am now at 6 with continuous flow. I switched to liquid O2 but can only get about 1 1/2 hrs Has any one else seen this rapid decline? Or is this n…[Read more]
One quote I heard that always helps me is that I am comparing my insides to other peoples outsides. Everyone has their own problems. Mostpeoples problems are hidden unlike ours with our oxygen , tiredness, and shortness of breath. I know I can cope with the problems I have. I try to be grateful for what I can do rather than upset over what I…[Read more]
I too am supposed to use oxygen with exertion. My levels drop quickly when I don’t use it. BUT I still “run” to the grocery store for a few things or go out with friends without my oxygen. I keep telling myself that I am the only one who would be bothered by my oxygen use. That it’s just my ego telling me I’m ok without my oxygen and that I’m…[Read more]
Is anyone using liquid oxygen? Does Medicare cover this? I am just reaching 65. My oxygen needs increased beyond that of my portable concentrator. I am considering switching to liquid oxygen. Will be starting Medicare in July. Thanks
There are 3 online videos for yoga with pulmonary hypertension. They were created by a doctor at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. Being out of shape and not too flexible I like that they start with an easy introduction.
