• I have a feeling this is going to help no one as I have a completely different kind of Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension. I have vasoreactive PH which is apparently connected with my congenital heart defect that was fixed back in 1959. ( I was one of the first to have heart surgery at Good Samaritan in Dayton, OH – a hospital that was just torn…[Read more]

  • Viewing that I am newly diagnosed, I have to admit that I don’t even know what they think about this. I have taken my husband with me to my appointments and he has asked a couple of questions. But to tell you the truth, I think he jumped on the “rare type that is very treatable” phrase and he thinks that I am going to be back to normal soon. My…[Read more]

  • Increased fatigue is what caused me to start down the road towards diagnosis of my PH. I noticed a huge drop off in my energy level last January. I thought I had a post holiday depression and my Dr. changed up those meds. My mood improved but the energy level did not. He instructed me to find a new Pulmonologist, as mine had passed away of a brain…[Read more]

  • I haven’t tried my daughter’s weighted blanket yet. She is a busy girl and hasn’t been up to see us lately. But SHE loves it. It is getting cold now and closer to Christmas so I need to get after her to bring it up to us and help out old Mom.

  • Wow – this sounds like something I might like. My daughter has one. I am going to ask her to bring it with her some time when she visits so I can try it out. I have orthopedic issues so don’t want to invest if it is going to “hurt”. If I like it, I am going to ask for one for Christmas.

  • I immediately wanted to read this thread because I have been told that a right heart cath is my next step. My Bubble Echo was negative – no holes in my heart but showed an enlarged pulmonary artery. This is new. The aortic stenosis is mild and not new. Thing is, I expected to get this done in July before my big trip the end of August. But my…[Read more]

  • I am totally new. In fact, not even sure if I have PH or not. It showed up on a CT of the chest. So far my ECHO shows Aortic regurg and mild to moderate Mitral value issues. I think a right heart cath is on my slate for July but despite one message asking about it, I haven’t heard back. Do I have to wait until I get really bad to get that test. I…[Read more]

Thank you for your kind welcome. In 34 years as a cardiac nurse, I can only remember one PH patient. He was starting on a new medication and had to be monitored closely. He was supposed to be in the Cardiovascular Unit but got moved out because of other more severe patients. We were scared to death of him because we had never dealt with that…

    • Rebecca, the CT and Echo are steps towards diagnosis but the right heart cath is the only way to accurately and officially diagnose PH. If PH is diagnosed than you will continue to periodic right heart cath’s to monitor the disease and to assist your doctor with prescribing the proper treatment. Here is brief article that explains further.…[Read more]
