• Purchasing Health Insurance

In April I turn 26 and I’ll have to purchase my own health insurance plan for the first time. I’ve been dreading this for a couple years now, and honestly never thought I’d live to see the day…

Have you had to purchase your own insurance? What options did you consider? What influenced your choice?

I’m self employed and unmarried so I’m going to be getting an individual plan and paying for it myself (business expense, though!). I’ve been researching all day and it’s all so overwhelming.

Luckily I still have five months, but I’m thinking about it now because open enrollment for insurance through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is November 1-December 15, 2018.

Has anyone applied for insurance through ACA? I’m looking at Covered California, but not sure I qualify.

Can I just stay 25 forever?
