Pulmonary Embolism – My Journey to Diagnosis. It took 1.5 years and over 20 Doctor and Emergency Room visits to reach a diagnosis. Every time I went to the Emergency Room, I was dismissed as having “anxiety” and sent home. For almost a year I couldn’t sleep because my breathing was so bad. When I was finally diagnosed, my condition was so bad that 70% of the arteries in my lungs had clots in them. Recognize the signs/symptoms that shouldn’t be ignored.
