Congenital diaphragmatic hernia, or CDH, is a birth defect with complications to the diaphragm. This defect allows the abdominal organs to pass through the diaphragm, enter the chest and inhibit lung growth. CDH can result in two main complications: pulmonary hypoplasia and pulmonary hypertension. Children’s Hospital Colorado shared this animated video where you can learn more about this birth defect, how it happens and how it affects babies who are born with this condition.
