Pulmonary Hypertension Tests
Despite being uncommon, Pulmonary Hypertension is a severe condition that can result in heart failure and even death. Therefore, early diagnosis is key to defining proper treatment, preventing further complications, and improving patients’ quality of life.
When symptoms experienced by a patient indicate the possibility of pulmonary hypertension, a specialized physician needs to analyze the results of various tests and procedures prior to confirming a PH diagnosis. Anechocardiography is among the first pulmonary hypertension tests to analyze the heart where soundwaves are used to create a moving image of the organ and estimate the pressure in the pulmonary arteries, as well as analyze the size, thickness and function of the right heart ventricle.
