In this video from Elsevier Pharma Solutions, Professor Marc Humbert discusses the diagnostic processes for pulmonary hypertension and chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH)—which is a curable form of the disease.

Prof. Hubert explains that CTEPH is due to blood clots blocking the pulmonary arteries which can be treated and removed with surgery if doctors act quickly enough. On the other hand, pulmonary hypertension is a progressive lung disease with a poor prognosis for patients.

He goes on to detail some of the different types of scans and tests that patients with suspected pulmonary hypertension or CTEPH will need to undergo to determine the type of disease they have.
