Colorado Mother Develops Pulmonary Hypertension After Giving Birth

In this video from CBS Denver, a young mother explains how her life was turned upside down when she was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension (PH) shortly after giving birth to her second child.

Danielle Soto from Colorado Springs was a healthy young woman but that all changed after she had her second baby. She explains that all her organs were shutting down and she was dangerously close to death. After complaining of being extremely short of breath and fatigued, doctors first thought she was suffering from anemia or post-natal depression but after a few weeks, a cardiologist diagnosed Soto with severe pulmonary hypertension.

Soto’s condition has now stabilized and she is taking medication to help manage the heart and lung condition.
