How do you deal with bad days on top of PH trauma?

We all have bad days that aren’t necessarily PH-related. It could just be a lose your keys, spill your coffee, and get every red light on your way to wherever you are going, kind of bad day. These bumps in the road can feel rough when you are walking the PH path.

Patrick Moeschen, Muscular Dystrophy News columnist, has written about dealing with bad days in his column, “The rule of 10 helps me navigate bad days with LGMD”.

According to Patrick, rule 10 goes like this: “When faced with a bad moment or adverse event, I take a deep breath and ask myself a simple question. “Will this still be on my mind in 10 minutes? Ten hours? Ten days? Ten months? Ten years?” Assessing the event in this way helps me to respond appropriately.”

Patrick lives with limb-girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD), and he explains that this practice helps him distinguish between bad days and more serious trauma.

His column is relatable to anyone living with a rare disease. I hope you will take a moment to read it. Share your bad day experiences with us and how you cope with them.
