• Prayers for our Jen

Posted by Colleen Steele on April 3, 2025 at 10:14 pm

@jen-cueva has been quiet this week because she took a fall on Monday and injured her right wrist. I believe she is right-handed, so that makes typing and many other things difficult. She has an appointment with ortho in the morning tomorrow (Friday). I know she is hurting, so hopefully, they will give her something for the pain. Let’s pray for quick healing and offer her our support.

Thanks so much for your support and well wishes, @Germaine Norwood . The pain continues to be pretty bad, but I do have pain medication to take. I often wait until the pain is unbearable before I take it, though, so I’m working on addressing that as well.💜

Thanks so much for your thoughts and prayers @Lynda and @V.R. Peterson . You aren’t the only ones who wish for a quick recovery. Manny is ready to “have me back. “He said this last night when he helped cut and chop ingredients for dinner. I reminded him that we are just getting started. Haha.

I know I’ll be in this cast at least until May 4th! Your words of encouragement are appreciated. I’ll be in here less often because I am trying to use voice dictation to communicate. Boy, what an eye-opening experience. I am planning to write/talk about that in a future column.

Hi @Terese Tuohey , you know. I wish I had a fun story to share about how I broke it. However, it was my clumsiness and my hurrying to do my next task that caused me to trip over a cord in the living room. Manny took a picture of me holding up his skateboard and posted it on his social media; I broke it trying to be like him. LOL. 😂

I’ll see if I can grab it from him and share it here. But I am truly grateful for your incredible love and support. 💜

Hi @carol-volckmann thanks so much, sweet lady, for your continued love and support. I am trying hard to listen now not only to my body, but also to my right hand and arm. Yesterday I was going to rest and had some cards I wanted to mail…Then I forgot. I can’t send them now as I am right-handed, and of course, it’s my right hand and arm in a cast. 🙈

Did you all have a wonderful visit with friends and get back home safely? I know Cloud was so excited to see and love on you and Dick. 💜

Hi @Colleen , thank you for sharing an update with our forum members. I’m now supporting a heavy and bright purple cast to my right hand and arm. When they redid the X-rays and added more on Friday morning before I met with the Ortho, she showed me where it is broken at two places. 🙈

Yes, I am right -handed, so will hope to be in the forums each day this week, even if it’s only a few minutes at a time. I’m learning how to use tools like voice dictation and others to try and communicate as well as continue my work tasks in some capacity. My next appointment with Ortho is the first week of May. So, it’s going to be my copilot, for a bit. It’s an adjustmant but so very touched by the love and support from you, our foum membbers and other family and friends.

I just took some much needed pain meds, so i’ll be back here later or this evening. Thanks to you, Colleen for holding down the forums while I am healing.

@jen-cueva I can speak for everyone when I ask that you focus on healing and not worry about the forums. If you feel up to it, don’t push yourself! The pain meds alone can take a toll.

I can’t believe you broke it in 2 places. You went days with it like that before they could see you, right? How on earth did you get through the pain? Will you still be able to travel for Easter?

Here I am asking you a bunch of questions and telling you to rest in the same breath!

Hi @Barbara A Perry , it’s great to see you post in the forums. How have you been?

I appreciate all the recovery wishes and prayers I’ve received. As usual, I feel like I’ve had the cast for too long, haha! When I went to Urgent Care for X-rays, the nurse joked, “Someone is trying to tell you to take a break!” I replied that this wasn’t a hint or reminder, at least not one that didn’t involve a literal break of bones!

But the love and support here and at home has been heartwarming.💜🤗

Jen, I’m late posting, but did want to send best wishes and quick healing your way. I’m so sorry for your fall and broken bone. Been there, done that! Much like you, I fell, fractured radius and had cast on dominant right hand. Went to ER initially and they reported no fracture; 2 weeks later I called ortho myself. They found the fracture and put on the cast! Take care of yourself and I’m praying you have a safe and wonderful trip for Easter.

@DeLois Tweedy it sounds like you and @jen-cueva have had almost the same experience. Happy Easter to you!

Oh boy, @DeLois Tweedy – it sounds like we had similar experiences. They sent me to Urgent Care, the PA discharged and said it didn’t look broken to him. He sent me home in a brace and a sling. The following day, Ortho called and found two breaks. So, I am wearing my purple cast and trying to complete some work tasks using assistive technology.

Thanks for your encouragement, my dear PHriend. Give your new granddaughter tons of love when she arrives.

Colleen-Steele, pass my regards to Jen and tell her as I learned after breaking my hip several years ago, take your pain med BEFORE it gets too bad. The med has to have time to work, don’t make it more painful for yourself!

Hi @Cris Dingman , thanks for that reminder, as I’m in pain now and need to take my pain meds. I try so hard not to take too many, but also find a good balance where I can tolerate the pain level. Your support means so much!
