• Preparing for the holidays with PH

Moving into holiday seasons, how do you prepare? Holidays can be especially stressful, whether you are a caregiver, someone living with a chronic disease, or just dealing with the daily stressors of the holiday season.

What are some strategies you plan on using this holiday season? Halloween is just around the corner. Do you and your family have any plans for this weekend that may help to minimize potential health risks?

With this in mind, I want to take a look at a previous topic my co-moderator, Jen, wrote regarding how “is it ok to say no as the holiday season approaches”. At times, especially as patients who may be at a higher risk when it comes to things like the flu or COVID-19, it’s important to put our health first. While saying no to some traditions, parties, or events can be hard at times, it can also create the opportunity to create new ones.

Important topic, @cullen-steele ! Thank you!

Focus and put your energy into what matters most, not what the commercialized Christmas tells us we should stress ourselves over.

What is most important to you? Is it baking, and if so, what is your favorite treat? Do you enjoy sending and receiving cards? Make handmaid gifts? Do you simply enjoy looking at a Christmas tree and watching Christmas shows? Whatever it is that makes Christmas special and less stressful for you is the right answer!

Our PH columnists, in addition to the wonderful column that Cullen shared, have written about Christmas/the holiday season several times. Here is a link to all of them. I hope you will find one that speaks to you.
