Explaining Why PH Is a Neglected Condition
In this video from MD Magazine TV, Dr. Stephen Y. Chan talks about why he feels pulmonary hypertension (PH) has been a neglected condition when it comes to researching treatments.

Chan explains that when he was taught about pulmonary hypertension in medical school 25 years ago, there was no treatment for the condition and patients would only live for around two years unless they were lucky enough to have a lung transplant. Nowadays, there are a number of FDA-approved drugs used to help treat the symptoms of PH but much more research needs to be done to find better drugs and therapies.
The doctor explains that the number of pulmonary hypertension diagnoses is increasing each year so there needs to be more pulmonologists to treat the condition.
