Pulmonary hypertension (PH) can be caused by many conditions such as autoimmune diseases like scleroderma or lupus, and existing lung diseases such as COPD. In this short video from PHA Canada, we find out more about how heart disease can cause the chronic lung disease, pulmonary hypertension.

When a person experiences heart failure, the left ventricle becomes enlarged and weakens causing blood to back up into the lung, this leads to hypertension in the lungs and increases the pressure in the pulmonary arteries.
