This is What Pulmonary Hypertension Patients Dream Of
Pulmonary hypertension is a rare, progressive lung disease where the blood pressure in the lung’s arteries becomes dangerously high leading to narrowed blood vessels. This forces the right side of the heart to work much harder to pump oxygenated blood back into the lungs, causing it to become enlarged. Pulmonary hypertension has no cure but there are medications which can help with the symptoms of the disease and slow down its progression.
Who is more at risk of developing pulmonary hypertension?
In this video from PHA Canada, the organization asks pulmonary hypertension patients and their families what they dream of. A young child says that he want to be able to play and run around;Â older patients say they want to be able to dance at their grandchildren’s weddings; others dream of a cure or better medication.
