The Treatment Options for CTEPH

Dr. Pengo explains that CTEPH is a treatable disease that occurs in 0.5 to 4 percent of patients who experience a pulmonary embolism. Surgery can be performed to remove the blood clots in the lungs of some CTEPH patients and there are medications for patients who have inoperable CTEPH. He also discusses balloon pulmonary angioplasty procedure as a less invasive option for CTEPH compared to surgery.
