Preparing and Waiting for Trasnsplant
My son was listed for almost a year before he received his transplant call. During that time it was important that he maintained his health as best as possible by eating well, staying hydrated, get up and move around at least a little, and of course, take his medications daily and on time.
Suitcases remained at out front door, packed and ready to go at a moment’s notice. We had a list on our fridge of last minute things that we would need to grab that weren’t already packed. Also in place were people ready to jump in and help with things like, caring for our pets, mail and other such concerns.
Most important…we were never without our cell phones in case he got the call.
Are you listed for transplant? How to stay prepared for when you receive the call?
Here is a column that offers suggestions.
