30 Days of PH: A Social Worker’s Perspective on Guarding Hearts
We are all grateful to the doctors and nurses who help us fight pulmonary hypertension, but don’t forget the social workers. Their support can be a huge asset to self-advocacy.
Darci Stout Albrecht’s has been a clinical social worker in the hospital setting since 2009. Her story is informative because she explains the services that social workers provide to patients and how valuable they can be to their wellbeing. But Darci’s story is also very heartwarming. She shares how much caring or pediatric PH patients has meant to her.
The story she shares about a ceramic heart she received from a heart and lung transplant recipient is very touching and offers precious symbolism that I believe everyone can relate to. I hope you will take a moment to read and share with us how Darci’s story moved you.
Pulmonary Hypertension News’ 30 Days of PH campaign is publishing one story per day from someone who has been affected by the disease for PH Awareness Month in November. Read the full series for more stories like this, and follow us on Facebook and Instagram, using the hashtag #30DaysofPH.
