Have you ever wondered what benefits come from revisiting the past?

Many in the PH community usually avoid looking back. But sometimes, reflecting on our past can be beneficial.

Living with a rare disease like PH often means we hide our history as we mourn our “old selves” before the diagnosis.

Does revisiting the past offer any advantages? Let’s talk about it.

I actually wanted to reflect on how often we do not explore our history as the PH community, and if that is a good thing or not. Well, it is all quite reasonable, a lot of us feel a great deal of loss, for who they were before they got a diagnosis. Still, I have found out that recalling those episodes is actually rather useful. And it is like a reminder in life of so much that has occurred and that even with all that has happened we continue to move forward. At times, we can recall such good times and get a small dose of being grateful for the moments that we had.

Well said, @alex616 ! Often, some of the experiences we’ve made it through are traumatic, and we don’t care to revisit them. But as you share, I’ve found motivation and inspiration when I look back at where I’ve been with PH and other health conditions, and I am always amazed at how my body continues to PHight!

It can be a bittersweet topic, but also so beneficial and reminds us how resilent we all are.
