Setting personal goals may motivate you to exercise. Share your goals with your medical team to ensure safety, and with friends and family to increase accountability. Start small and celebrate your achievements.

What are some of your personal exercise goals? I was always told not to lift weights because it might cause me to strain. Now I wish I had started with 1-pound weights and worked my way up. Using light weights can be a great daily cardio exercise that won’t harm your heart.

Ask your doctor what is safe for you. My doctor told me it was fine to feel short of breath, but to stop pushing myself if I felt dizzy. How do you self-regulate while exercising?
