I know I haven’t posted in a while, I have had a lot of changes since February. As I was waiting to see another referring doctor I found out I was pregnant, currently 15 weeks now. My OBGYN definitely wanted me to see a pulmonologist, which found out they have a whole pulmonary hypertension clinic in ocean springs mississippi. I seen him 2 weeks ago and he was great he scheduled me for another echocardiogram to see if my pressure was still abnormal and then from there we’d do the next step for right heart cath if needed. I had my echo on wednesday and got my results today, my right ventricle has enlarged and they weren’t able to get my pressure due to the regurgitation from the tricuspid valve. I see the pulmonologist again on the 6th. I’m very nervous and anxious. Really thought this was all in my head and everything was fine considering how the VA cardiology clinic just gaslit me and blamed my symptoms on my weight.

Hi @nataliescott, welcome back! It sounds like things have been progressions since you last shared.

I’m so grateful you found the PH clinic in Ocean Springs that is not part of the VA, correct? Congrats on your pregnancy. My heart goes out to you with all on your plate. What did the PH doctor tell you about being pregnant with PH?

Is this your first child? I apologize if you mentioned this before, but I recall talking with you because my family is in MS. I was there to visit in March.

How have you been feeling overall? I’m sure with your PH symptoms and your pregnancy; this is adding strain to your body. Hopefully, you’re keeping cool in that awful heat and humidity.

I know it’s incredible to have some answers but also, that validation makes PH a reality. This can be scary and overwhelming. Please let us know how we can best support you as you prepare for that appointment next week.

I found this article topic about a young woman who was pregnant and found out she had PH.

Maybe this will offer some support from others who have found themselves pregnant with PH.

@nataliescott updated versus responding to the post here. So, I’m sharing her response so others can easily locate it.

Natalie said- “Hey Jen! Thats right the clinic is not associated with VA. This is my second pregnancy, I had my first 4 years ago, which my doctor was curious about how I handled it, which went very smooth and without complications. Though it seems after my cesarian is when I felt like my health went down hill. Yes I live in Pascagoula, and the weather has be GROSS lol, really hot and humid.
The weather has definitely been hard on me this year, I was always someone that could tolerate the heat and enjoyed being outdoors. I used to be active duty army, 2 deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, and now I can barely sit down outside without feeling faint and overly exhausted, its truly bizarre to me. I wasn’t sure if these were just me being pregnant, my conditions, or both. My symptoms that I have been experiencing is a higher heart rate, especially when standing or walking, shortness of breath, the fatigue has been crazy. I really don’t feel like myself.

My husband has been super supportive, so grateful for him, especially with summer activities for our children, I really hate that I can’t be as involved with them.

I appreciate the link you posted, I haven’t been able to find much on pregnancy with ph, so I am eager to read about it. My doctor didn’t say too much about being pregnant and the effects of PH, I believe he was trying to be optimistic about my echo, considering all my autoimmune testing has come back negative, and they aren’t too sure why this is happening. But he very much wanted to see me ASAP to address any abnormalities.”

Hi, @nataliescott; yes, my parents have been telling me how hot and humid it has been and is supposed to be this coming week. Please stay in the AC if you can and hydrated.

I’m grateful that you have a supportive hubby. Those summer outside activities down there are harsh on us with PH. Plus, with your pregnancy, I can’t begin to imagine.

How do you like the PH clinic in Ocean Springs? Is there only one specialist or several? What’s the doctor’s name by chance? My friend in Daphne, AL, may want to check them out.

Please let us know how your appointment goes tomorrow. Do you have a list of questions written down for them? Let us know how we can best support you.

Hi @nataliescott, I wanted to see how your appointment with your pulmonologist went yesterday. Did you get some of your concerns addressed?

How are things going, and how did you feel about this appointment?

@nataliescott I missed your previous update and just got caught up. First of all, thank you for your service. I didn’t know you did 2 deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Most of all, congratulations on your pregnancy. I will keep the baby and your health in my prayers. Like Jen I am curious how the appointment went.
