Team PHenomenal Hope is a nonprofit in the pulmonary hypertension (PH) community that raises money for PH research. The team of volunteer endurance athletes race in events across the world and fundraise for the cause. I decided to join Team PHenomenal Hope in 2019 to help motivate me to train. Exercising helps keep my transplanted heart and lungs healthy!

I recently learned about the organization’s grant program. This program seeks physicians, nurses, pharmacists, or allied health professionals with a proposal to address an issue/question in the field of pulmonary hypertension. Applications are due February 1st. Please share this information with your medical team and any others who may be interested.

Team PHenomenal Hope, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting people diagnosed with a rare condition known as pulmonary hypertension (PH), has proudly announced the opening of their PHenomenal Impact Fund for Global PH Research. The organization is now taking applications and will award the research grant in 2019.

The Team PHenomenal Hope Grant Program will reward studies of basic science, translational science or clinical research/need in the field of pulmonary hypertension. As such, this program will provide an opportunity for individuals to affect the quality of medical care and improve the lives of patients with pulmonary hypertension.

The program was created by Team PHenomenal Hope; initially, it will provide grants up to $50,000 to investigators during a 12-month period. The awards will be chosen by the Team PHenomenal Hope Grant Steering Committee based on scientific merit, originality, feasibility, and/or clinical applicability to the diagnosis and treatment of patients with pulmonary hypertension. The proposal must be deemed achievable within the one year time frame and within the noted fiscal allocation ($50,000). Letters of Intent (LOI) are due February 1, 2019.

Team PH founder and pulmonologist, Dr. Patricia George, is thrilled to bring this goal of the organization to fruition. “It would be an understatement to say we are proud to contribute to the advancement of treatment and a cure for pulmonary hypertension. This is what our hard work and the contributions of our supporters have lead us to, and we are anxious to see how this next step impacts our community.”
