• To Cath Or Not To Cath?

During my son’s decline he reached a point in which his doctor decided it was too risky to perform a cardiac catheterization. Echocardiograms became our primary source of monitoring his progression.

Are you considered to be too much a risk for a heart catheterization? If so, how is your PH being monitored? Do you feel that the method being used is sufficient? Share your experience with us.

This is a great topic, @colleensteele. Just celebrating my 15 years last week with PH, I have had times when both have applied. I have had times when my CHF was so bad and they were scared to do a cath. I went for several years without one because of the risks.

Thankfully, I am now in better shape, overall with PH, so I do have caths done every year pretty much. If there is a time when my health is questionable, they will hold off.
