I know that living with pulmonary hypertension can be exhausting in itself and the fatigue is sometimes overbearing. As I have been getting diagnosed with multiple conditions that are being looked into, one of my doctors mentioned chronic fatigue syndrome to me. Here is a link to check out what this condition is. Many of my symptoms and diagnoses follow the pattern of someone living with this condition. My doctors will be doing a small fiber neuropathy test on me to help further confirm suspicions of this diagnosis. Damage to my vagus nerve after being compressed for 28 years really is also playing a huge role in many of my symptoms, especially my breathing problems and my GI conditions that have been taking over a lot of my life.

Do you suffer with fatigue that seems unmanageable? Do you get tired and have to rest for long hours after exertion? Have you talked with your doctor about possibly having chronic fatigue syndrome? Here is the link to the CDC site where you can learn more about this condition:

Brittany, I’ve struggle with fatigue and have often wondered how much of it is a symptom of some health problems that I have, or something more than that. I know stress doesn’t help fatigue either. It’s remarkable how well you keep yourself busy despite how tired I know you feel and with all of your major health concerns. Thank you for sharing this link. I bet there are people out there that will relate to it and ask their doctor’s more questions.

It is something that my PH specialist is actually very interested in studying and has happened in a lot of women patients who are just labeled as “anxious” or as having a mental illness. When they do testing they see changes such as the body not using the oxygen properly, metabolic conditions, GI dysfunction, heart rhythm problems, easy muscle fatigue and weakness etc. It’s very interesting and I’d be super interested in knowing if this is also something that is contributing to my symptoms. I am anxious to see how the medication is going to work for me too and I’m crossing my fingers that it can give some relief even though it is a pain to have to take it under medical supervision and be inpatient for it. I guess better safe than sorry though so I am glad they are taking the proper precautions when all is said and done!

Brittany, I’m glad that your PH doctor is investigating this and if something can improve your fatigue and other symptoms, that would be awesome!

I know that adding more conditions aren’t the most fun, but if there are things you may benefit from, I’m all for it as well.

As Colleen says I’m still in awe watching all you accomplish even as you’ve been dealing with all that you have on your plate.

Just my PH, Anemia, and Kidney disease cause me so much fatigue. I have days where it feels as if no amount of sleep will help. This is when I’ve often pushed myself too much, after being frustrated about being so dang tired.

Thank you for the motivation, Jen!
It feels good to hear from others that they recognize the things I am doing when I’m not feeling my best. When I am physically feeling defeated, I try my very best to stay busy enough but there is that fine line of not doing “too much” to make things any worse and I admittedly cross that line a lot myself. I’m hoping to get more answers and pieces to the puzzle that has been my life the last 15 plus years. I feel like each time I visit a doctor it’s an answer but an overwhelming one ! Thank you for keeping me motivated and making me feel like I am making a difference. That helps 🙂

Hi Carol, you certainly are not alone with this fatigue. If it is more than usual, have the doctor check your iron levels just to be sure all is OK there. I know for me, my anemia adds to the fatigue that I get with my PH. Other days, I find that my fatigue is more when I am stressed or have allergies or a virus, etc.. Take care of yourself.

I often dose off to sleep on the couch watching tv and movies. I am glad that my hubby is so understanding.
