What is on your medical calendar for October?
Posted by Colleen on October 1, 2025 at 5:37 pmOctober can be cozy and comfortable or spooky and scary, or a little of both. When you look at your medical calendar, what will it be for you?
Do you have an appointment, procedure, tests, or new treatment coming up that has you feeling anxious, or are things looking stable for you in October?
Please share your schedule with us so we can support you.

Hello @Colleen You are right, October can be a scary, spooky time. Upcoming appointments: pretty much check ins with Pulmonologist, Cardiologist, and blood work up.
The scary test is a 4 hour transit test where I am to swallow radioactive material and the techs monitor travel to see why and what is going on in my gut. I have for the last several years undergone many kind of test, taking a multitude of antibiotics, done the food map diet, exercise etc… all to try and find out why I have bloating/SIBO. I have tried everything to no avail. This test us kinda the last result to try and find the cause.
Wish me luck for next Tuesday. Fingers crossed 🤞.

@carol-volckmann I hope the test went well today, although I’m sure it wasn’t pleasant. I’ve been praying that you get answers and an effective treatment plan! Update us when you feel up to it.

Thank you so much @Colleen for your kind and thoughtful support. Fortunately or unfortunately the lab postponed my test till Oct 31st and has me on a wait list. Gee, I didn’t know this test was so popular 😳 😅.
If I remember correctly, you have a birthday coming up to celebrate 🍾. Happy 🎂 Birthday ❤️ Friday – may it be joyful and full of love and for the year ahead 💖.

@carol-volckmann It just occurred to me that your test has been rescheduled on Halloween! That sounds more like a Trick than a Treat!😏

Darn it, I am so sorry the procedure got postponed! I’m sure you would have liked to get it over with!
It is sweet of you to remember my birthday. It is tomorrow the 11th. I’ll be 50….something 😉

50 something. You’re just a child! Happy Birthday from someone older than you!

Hi Birthday girl – I hope it was special and filled with Joy and laughter 50 something… Growing up when it was one of us having a birthday my father gave our mother a gift and when it was her birthday he gave her mother a gift. He always said we did not have much to do with coming into the world but mother sure did. I love it. We still celebrated it with having our special dinner and our nose buttered so we would slip through the year.
As to my Howleen trick/treat test. If we find out what is causing the bloat and have a plan to fix it – that would be a great treat!! If still no where near finding out will certainly be a trick! Wecare hoping for treats as nothing has worked from a diet from the food map to some of the strongest antibiotics combos. Fingers crossed.
Thank you for your encouragement sending warm hugs 😊🤗❤️

@carol-volckmann Your father sounds like a gentle, kind spirit. I love the sentiment of acknowledging the mother who brought the birthday person into the world!

Hi Colleen!
I always look forward to this question. Fortunately, October is a little less busy than usual. I will be continuing tests in a clinal trial for a new PAH drug. Susie and a I enrolled in a research study at our local university that is trying to use yoga, meditation and stress relief techniques to improve breathing function. Finally, I had dental implant surgery this week and the experience was much less difficult than I expected. Now I have a 4 to 8 month period of healing before insertion of the permanent teeth. Then I can finally smile again😁!
Best wishes to all in this group.

@perry mamigonian, it is always nice to hear updates from you! You and @jen-cueva are sharing similar experiences lately! When you get a chance, read her recent column, “Pilates and a New PH Treatment Gave Me the Boost I Needed“.
Congratulations on your new smile! I broke a molar this evening, so I’m probably having my 4th crown in the past 2 years. At least you will have a lovely new smile after your dental work! I’m sure the process hasn’t been easy, but I’m happy for you that you have braved through it.
Please give Susie my best!

Colleen and Jen, I don’t have much on the calendar for October, for a change, but the big one was a couple of days ago. I had my 6 month check up. I had been having a flare up for most of Sept and moved my appt up because I didn’t feel well at all. Small miracles do happen! I got there and felt wonderful. Best check up I’ve had in a long time. I aced my 6MW with a 105% score, and my blood work and ECHO were both on target! I give God the praise for all this. And I’ve been feeling well since!
