    Hi Colleen,
The rest of October wasn’t looking too busy for me until I ended up in the hospital last week for an infection. I found out today that I have a staph infection as well as bacteria from e-coli found on the culture swab that they did of my infection. I was only treated with antibiotics for a day so I’m sure I will have to go back on something that is possibly more effective. Anxious to see what my doctor will say about it today and how they want to proceed with the treatment. This is something that is scary to get as a bacteria infection, especially in an open area to my intestines in my body. YIKES! So for the rest of the month I have a lot of follow up appointments with different specialists and still waiting to get results back from my manometry study that I had done almost 2 weeks ago. The results can take up to 4 weeks to come back. Lots of waiting around on what to do next. Sometimes I feel caught in the waiting period of life with chronic illnesses.

Brittany, you have been through one thing after another and now a staph infection too! Yes, I can imagine that is cause for a lot of follow-up appointments! Agh, I’m so sorry! There is nothing like the hurry up and wait experience to frazzle the nerves. Are you holding up ok in that regard?

Currently on another round of antibiotics twice a day to try to clear up the infection. They found 4 different strains of bacterial infections including staph and ecoli. Both are terrible and I now need to be monitored for endocarditis especially with the staph infection. It’s nerve wracking and definitely takes a toll on how I’m physically feeling. Just feel worn out and exhausted

Oh, Brittany, I’m so sorry. My heart just aches for how much you have gone through and are continuing to go through.

        Thank you, Robin.
Infections, especially one that is as serious as STAPH really makes me nervous especially given the fact that I just had a major heart operation only a few months ago. The risk of endocarditis is pretty high especially if there are artificial valves, grafts, patches in the heart etc. If I don’t feel much better I am going to go to my cardiologist at the end of the week just to make sure everything is okay.

Now that I’ve had my two iron infusions there’s nothing left on October’s calendar except two routine doctor appointments and then …. (drum roll, please) cataract surgery! On Halloween (of all the dumb days!) haha! I’ve needed this for quite some time and I’ve pushed it to the back burner because of all my other medical issues. I just didn’t feel like it mattered as much as the life threatening stuff. But now, I’m going ahead with it. Left eye on Oct. 31 and right eye one week later. Wish me luck!

Robin, I’ll be thinking of you on Halloween. My dad had cataract surgery. It went very well and I’m sure your will too!
