Natalie Cole on Pulmonary Hypertension
Natalie Cole passed away on New Year’s Eve in 2015. The popular singer and actress who struggled since 2009 with pulmonary hypertension, died of heart failure aggravated by lung disease or idiopathic pulmonary hypertension. Throughout her life she battled many demons. In this pulmonary hypertension quote, Cole speaks about the importance of turning a negative into something positive.
Pulmonary hypertension is a rare lung disorder in which the arteries that carry blood from the heart to the lungs become narrow and make it difficult for blood to flow through the vessels. As a result, blood pressure in the arteries rises far above normal levels.
For this Daily Mail article, Cole who was the daughter of the legendary Nat King Cole, shared her battles with health issues and addiction. She tapped her head and said: “I do believe that here [she taps her head] is where everything happens. Rather than thinking, ‘Poor me,’ you turn it into something positive.”
