When living with PH or any chronic illness, one of our greatest strengths can be our ability to effectively communicate with our caregivers. Effective communication with your caregiver can be essential in allowing them to understand what your needs are throughout your care and helping you to achieve your goals.

However, as many of you may understand, this can be especially difficult at times. Whether you, as a patient, are dealing with increased symptoms making it difficult to effectively communicate your own feelings, or caregivers are struggling with symptoms of burnout.

What are some methods that you have found to be effective when communicating with your caregiver (or provider)?

An example I can give is that I am open to my mom about my care/appointments, so she understands everything that is going on regarding my treatment and can assist me when I need it. In turn, she communicates her own needs while asking questions regarding my care to ensure that I am receiving proper care throughout my treatments.
