With my oxygen in tow, people often assume I’m a smoker. But in reality, I was just shy of 20 when I got diagnosed with PH. As Respiratory Care Week approaches from October 20th – 26th, it’s the perfect time to spread the word and raise awareness:

    • Educate those around you about lung health, including PH. Spoiler alert: not all of us smoked.
    • Give a shoutout to a Respiratory Therapist (RT). They might be the ones yelling “BLOW” during your pulmonary function tests (PFTs), but they’ve always got our backs, teaching us to breathe deeply and delivering our treatments when we need them most.
    • Amplify this important awareness week on social media with logos from AARC and others.

Does anyone have any feedback about working with the respiratory therapists while managing PH? 💜

I found the Be An RT website helpful. It explains how much it takes to be an RT and has videos that also help us better understand the RTs’ jobs. Do we have any retired or working RTs among our members? I know we have several nurses.
